Dickery Carwithen

Today's unusual Puritan name:

Dickery Carwithen.

Carwithen's occupation is listed in the Boston records as "shipmaster." He died in Boston on September 6, 1653. There may have been an epidemic on his ship because a Richard Walters, "a mate of Dickory Carwithy" died on August 3rd.
