Do you know where they were getting their slate? That's a gorgeous stone, for almost 300 years old.

I don't know where John Stevens got his stone, but you're right — it's lovely.

There must have been an amazing quarry nearby (pr accessible by water). Not only was the slate very high quality, it came in pieces big enough for stones like the Langley Children stone.
