Musings

I wonder . . .

If I were to invent a pompous title and author name and slip them into the 250+ items on my Seventeenth-Century England general exam list, would anyone notice?

Chesterthorpe, P.R. "Surplices and Sectarians: Harbottle Grimston and the Demise of Antinomianism." Journal of British Studies, 37:2 (1996), 264-89.

Totally plausible.

A recent journal should be easy to track down. But make it a Proceedings volume from a regional historical society, and people will be hunting for it for years. (Can you tell I’ve been trying to track down a particular volume of a local historical society’s Proceedings?)
